Kat Roberts wins girls 18’s tournament

VYT Coach MIchael Halisky took a contingent of high school players to New Hampshire last weekend to play in a USTA tournament.  Sophomore Kat Roberts brought home the trophy by winning the girls 18’s 6-4, 6-1 and taking out the number 2 seed along the way.  Victoria Scott lost to the number 1 seed in the semifinals in a close match 4-6, 6-1 (10-7).  Kelly Klaren lost in the quarterfinals 7-6, 6-1 and Lizzie Williamson lost a tough match in the first round 6-2, 7-6.  High school junior Zak Danz lost his first round match 6-3, 6-2.  Many of the high school players are playing USTA tournaments to prepare for the upcoming tennis season which begins in late March in what is expected to be a great season for both the boys and girl’s teams.
